Massage therapy is a technique used by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) to relieve stored tension, increase circulation, performance and reduce muscular stress and strains. Massage is performed by applying different pressures, kneading and muscle stretching.
This will allow you to improve your overall performance, mobility, and increase muscle recovery time while reducing pain. When you get a massage, it helps restore proper function back to the muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, nerves, lymph and restore blood flow.
Did you know: Massage can be used to release areas of strain in a muscle. Strained areas are called tender or trigger points, and they tend to be the cause of ongoing muscular pain symptoms. These spots are painful on compression and can produce referred pain, referred tenderness, motor dysfunction, and autonomic phenomena.

Mark graduated from the Massage Therapy program from MRU here in Calgary back in 2010 and has been consistently practicing full time ever since and enjoys every day he can come treat his clients. He demonstrates confidence and consistency in additional modalities such as prenatal massage, TMJ dysfunction, dynamic cupping, and fascial decompression. Mark can perform relaxation based massage, but the majority of his clients come to him for deep therapeutic treatments. These normally can consist of both passive and active stretching and is known to give a thoroughly deep and detailed massage but still have his clients leave relaxed and in relief. Mark’s main focus is to make sure to approach each case individually to their specific needs and concerns, and to achieve long term relief.
Julie has been practicing massage therapy since 1998. In spite of great success with many patients, in 2003, frustrations with the limits of massage therapy encouraged continued studies with the Upledger Institute in Cranio Sacral Therapy and more recently Visceral Manipulation. She has also spent years studying Myofascial Release with John Barnes. Her treatments are typically a blend of therapies, based on the specific needs of each individual. “As a facilitator and educator, my goal is always to assist my clients in getting to the root cause of pain and dysfunction, encouraging deeper awareness and healing at all levels.” Julie continues to pursue her studies, knowing there is always more to learn. Outside of the clinic, Julie enjoys many creative pursuits and outdoor activities, and sings in two of the city’s top choirs.
I began in the health and wellness industry over 30 years ago, passionate about human performance and focused only on the body. I soon found that the application of the scientific principles that I had studied during the course of my physical education degree and massage therapy diploma were limited. Based on the anatomical study of cadavers, they didn’t take into account the person within the body. This realization led me into yoga, meditation, mindfulness and mind-body therapy. I came to appreciate the power of the creative mind and its impact on individual health and wellness. Likely the only Reverend, personal trainer and massage therapist that you’ll ever meet, today I offer my clients customized care, and Neuromuscular massage techniques that not only accomplishes their physical goals but helps them to lead more energized and inspired lives. When I’m not helping others be happy, you can find me outside camping, biking, hiking, skiing or canoeing in the company of my family.
